Let's reflect on the years of wonder, from the days of being a 17-year-old enthusiast in 1987, wide-eyed and stepping into the realm of gems and minerals. Picture Piney Hollow, a quaint bead store on 4th Ave, as the birthplace of the magic.
Back then, the Tucson Gem Show wasn't just an event; it was a portal to a realm of creativity and a hub of passionate individuals. Fast forward to today – at 55, that excitement from the early days hasn't dimmed. The Tucson Gem Show remains a pilgrimage for me, filled with weeks of creativity, the joy of rediscovered friendships, and an ever-present allure of gems and artistry.
It's incredible how the show has grown and transformed over the years, yet at its core, that unyielding passion for gemology and artistry remains unwavering. Join me on this stroll down memory lane, where every gem narrates a story, and every show feels like returning home.

An enchanting facet of the Tucson Gem Show is that it has a truly global allure. With numerous shows happening simultaneously, choosing where to direct your steps depends on your particular interests. The Whole Bead Show and To Bead True Blue are havens for bead enthusiasts. On the other hand, the African Art Village and American Indian Art Exposition showcase cultural artifacts and goods, adding a touch of history and tradition to the mix. Embark on a journey through the rich tapestry of African culture at the African Art Village from January 27th to February 11th, 2024! Open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, this vibrant event boasts approximately 120 African vendors presenting a kaleidoscope of artifacts from countries across the continent.
Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of African arts with an array of baskets, beads, statues, ceremonial masks, mud cloth, clothing, materials, shea butter, oils, incense, and so much more. It's a treasure trove of unique finds that reflect the beauty and diversity of African heritage.
The African Art Village is a global wonder, uniting cultures and showcasing rare gems and minerals from around the world. It's one of my favorites, and the best part – it's open to the public!

JOGS has quickly become a gem haven, growing in brilliance each year. Explore the indoors to find finished products, exquisite jewelry pieces, and specialized gem and jewelry pavilions and groups. Step outside into the Gem Bazaar, where rough materials, lapidary supplies, and gemstone décor await, catering to a wide range of interests and preferences.
As a newer show that gets better every year, JOGS is a hidden gem in itself. The loose crystals and abundance of beads make it a haven for someone like me, always on the lookout for new treasures to incorporate into my jewelry designs. It's a dynamic blend of experiences, both indoors and outdoors.JoGGs

These events hold a special place in my heart, having worked among gemstones and beads, even contributing to the vibrant marketplace. It's not just about the years of excellence or the tradition; it's a personal voyage filled with memories of those early days selling gemstones for a company.

An absolute gem of a show that holds a special place in my heart! From January 25th to February 11th, 2024, the Kino Gem & Mineral Show at Kino Sports Complex is a delightful experience for all. Located at 2500 E. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85713, it's conveniently nestled between Kino Pkwy. & Country Club Rd.
This show has it all – from stunning gems and minerals to a variety of treasures that cater to every taste and interest. What makes it even more special is that it's open to the public, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.
One of the highlights is the enjoyment it brings to the entire family. My kids absolutely love it, and the diverse range of offerings ensures there's something for everyone. It's not just a gem and mineral show; it's a celebration of beauty, wonder, and family fun.
