Awakening the Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra, Ajna, is our gateway to intuition and inner wisdom. Embrace the clarity that comes with trusting your inner guidance

Hello, dear friends,

I’m so happy to welcome you back to our seven-week journey through the chakras. This week, we’ve reached the Sixth Chakra: the Third Eye, also known as Ajna. This chakra holds a special place in our energy system, as it governs our intuition, inner wisdom, and ability to see beyond the physical world.

Understanding the Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is located just between your eyes, slightly above the bridge of your nose. It’s often symbolized by the color indigo, representing a deep connection to the unseen and the mysterious. This chakra is associated with the element of light, which illuminates our path and helps us perceive the truth in all situations.

When balanced, the Third Eye Chakra allows us to trust our intuition, gain insights into our lives, and connect with our higher selves. It helps us see beyond the surface, guiding us to the deeper truths that lie within. However, when this chakra is out of balance, we might experience confusion, a lack of clarity, or a feeling of being disconnected from our inner guidance.

My Personal Connection to the Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra has always been a significant focus in my personal journey. There have been times when I’ve struggled to trust my intuition, often second-guessing my decisions and feeling disconnected from that quiet inner voice I knew was there but couldn’t always clearly hear. This uncertainty would leave me feeling stuck, paralyzed by the fear of making the wrong choices.

I remember one particular time when this struggle was especially intense. I was at a major crossroads in my life, overwhelmed by the weight of making the right decision. My mind was consumed with “what ifs,” and I felt trapped in a fog of doubt. In desperation, I decided to step back from the noise of daily life. One afternoon, I found a quiet space, closed my eyes, and focused on my breath. As I directed my attention to my Third Eye, slowly, the fog began to lift. In that stillness, the answer I had been searching for emerged—not as a loud, definitive voice, but as a quiet, gentle knowing.

This experience taught me that intuition isn’t something we have to force—it’s always within us, patiently waiting for us to listen. But listening requires trust, especially when the answers aren’t always what we expect. The Third Eye Chakra has helped me cultivate this trust, guiding me through life’s uncertainties with a deeper sense of peace and purpose.

Signs of a Balanced Third Eye Chakra

When your Third Eye Chakra is in balance, you may notice:

  • A strong sense of intuition and inner knowing

  • Clarity in decision-making and a sense of purpose

  • The ability to see the bigger picture in challenging situations

  • A deep connection to your inner wisdom and higher self

On the other hand, when the Third Eye Chakra is blocked or imbalanced, you might experience:

  • Confusion or difficulty making decisions

  • Lack of clarity or feeling disconnected from your intuition

  • Overactive imagination, leading to anxiety or fear

  • Physical symptoms such as headaches, eye strain, or difficulty concentrating

Healing Practices for the Third Eye Chakra

To help balance and heal your Third Eye Chakra, here are some practices that have been especially meaningful to me:

1. Meditation and Visualization

Meditation is a powerful way to connect with your Third Eye Chakra. I’ve created a guided meditation specifically for this chakra, which you can find below. During your meditation, visualize an indigo light at the center of your forehead, expanding with each inhale and clearing away any blockages with each exhale. Imagine this light infused with the energies of tanzanite and amethyst, enhancing your intuition and inner wisdom. Allow this light to guide you into a deeper connection with your inner self.

2. Working with Gemstones

Gemstones like tanzanite and amethyst are wonderful tools for healing the Third Eye Chakra. Tanzanite promotes spiritual awareness and intuition, while amethyst enhances clarity of thought and spiritual insight. You can wear these gemstones as jewelry, carry them with you, or place them in your meditation space. Our specially designed Third Eye Chakra bracelet features these powerful stones, serving as a daily reminder to trust your intuition and embrace your inner wisdom. Wearing this bracelet has been a personal practice for me, especially during times when I need to feel more connected to my inner guidance.

3. Trusting Your Intuition

Learning to trust your intuition is a lifelong journey. For me, this has meant learning to quiet the noise of the outside world and listen to the still, small voice within. Journaling has been an invaluable tool in this process, helping me to capture those fleeting moments of insight and make sense of them. I often write down my thoughts, dreams, and any intuitive nudges I receive, even if they don’t make sense at the time. Over the years, I’ve found that these journal entries often hold the keys to the decisions I need to make.

Affirmations are powerful tools for opening and balancing the Third Eye Chakra. By repeating these positive statements, you can strengthen your intuition, clarity, and connection to your inner wisdom. Trust in the insights that come from within.

4. Affirmations

Affirmations are a powerful way to reinforce your connection to your inner wisdom. I invite you to repeat affirmations such as, "I am wise, intuitive, and aligned with my highest good," or "I trust my inner guidance and see clearly." These affirmations can help to build a more confident and attuned sense of intuition. I like to write them on sticky notes and place them where I’ll see them throughout the day—on my mirror, my desk, or even as the background on my phone.

5. Aromatherapy

Essential oils like sweet pea, camphor, and heliotrope can be incredibly supportive in opening and balancing the Third Eye Chakra. Using these oils in a diffuser, applying them to your pulse points, or simply inhaling their scent during meditation can help to deepen your connection to your intuition. I often use these oils during my own meditation practice, finding that their scent helps to create a sacred space where I can tune into my inner guidance more clearly.

Meditation is a powerful practice to open and balance the Third Eye Chakra, allowing us to see beyond the surface and connect with our higher selves.

6. Physical and Spiritual Practices

Engage in practices that stimulate your Third Eye Chakra, such as yoga, tai chi, and mindful movement. These activities encourage a deeper connection between the body and the mind, helping to clear any blockages in this chakra. Poses that focus on the forehead area, such as Child’s Pose (Balasana) or Dolphin Pose (Ardha Pincha Mayurasana), are particularly beneficial. On a spiritual level, activities like reading, meditation, and reflective journaling can help you to distill wisdom from your life experiences and connect more deeply with your inner self.
